A Note From Caitlin Fortunat

About

It is my pleasure to finally be able to share some of my knowledge with you and anyone else who might be inspired to learn the language of horses.

Growing up around these magnificent creatures I've learned patience, gentleness, how to ask and receive, how to be both a partner and a boss.

I find so many people these days are trying to train their own colts and "problem horses" but their missing the most important element; How to read the horses body language and respond in an effective way with your own. Horses ALWAYS respond to pressure. But knowing when to add and when to release is the key that will make or break them.

I am now offering limited training opportunities to both horses and people. The following are just a few testimonials I've received over the past year.

CALI (ALITA)

If you read the first testimonial posted on this page you will recognize Cali as the "Furthest Travelled" horse. February of 2021 she was purchased by a lovely family in New Brunswick. They recently sent me an update...

"Some people thought we were crazy to buy a horse that we hadn’t seen all the way across Canada. When we had seen Alita on Caitlin’s website we fell in love. We asked every question possible to make sure that she was the right fit for our family and was she ever. Caitlin was so friendly and helpful through adopting our first horse. The bond that now Cali (Alita) has with my daughter is unbelievable and we wouldn’t change a thing. The journey and miles for getting here was worth it, our princess is home!!"

HIDALGO

Hidalgo was a wild gelding sent to me for halter breaking by the same family that bought Cider off me earlier in the year.

"We purchased 'Cider' from Caitlyn in 2021 and it was immediately obvious to me that Caitlin had that special mix of patience and touch that creates an atmosphere of trust with horses that few of us can ever master.

When we acquired an untouched three year old paint and struggled to halter break him, we immediately thought of Caitlyn who had him haltered after a single session and really made amazing further progress in just 30 days.

I highly recommend Caitlin for all your equine training needs!"

NOVA

Nova was the first Tarpan I've ever head the pleasure of working with and she was an excellent learner!

For me a great horse trainer is more than someone who can get on a green horse and ride. A great horse trainer is someone who is professional and organized from the start; someone who can communicate with both humans and horses; and can understand the unique needs of each equine. Caitlin embodies all these qualities. Seeing the progress she made with my mare in less than a month demonstrated to me how gifted she is as a trainer. Watching her work with my mare, her years of dedicated work and passion for horses was obvious. I would highly recommend Caitlin.

"The Girls"

These 3 year old fillies (Ronnie and Ion) were fantastic to work on. Thank you Connie and Darwin for that opportunity!

" Caitlin is amazing to me at what she can achieve with horses... I honestly call her a horse whisperer...I can tell you from my own experience with her and my two horses. Especially my quarter horse I was completely afraid of...within one month Caitlin went above and beyond what I had asked of her... I now enjoy two calm ,trusting beautiful horses .. Thank you so much Caitlin"

"CheddAR"

Cheddar is an honorable mention!

Taken off a wildy pasture as a 2 year old with a colt at her side, she was extremely malnourished and roughly handled when she came to me. Though I've worked on many rescues before I have to say, she is one tough cookie. After being started under saddle with me she made her way to beautiful British Columbia where she is living out her days being ridden and pampered by a wonderful rescue-experienced lady. Thank you!

"Cider"

Originally named "Stone", I picked this 2010 mare up from a lovely lady in Saskatchewan. Unfortunately she had tried to have Cider trained without success.

"Caitlin recently acquired an older mare from me that I had bought from pasture, unhandled as a 5 year old. As years went on I tried to get her trained by other reputable trainers, with little success. However, Caitlin saw potential in my mare and gave her a chance. Caitlin achieved more in one day than previous trainers had in several weeks! I am so thankful my mare went to Caitlin and is getting the opportunity at a new life under saddle."

Cider was successfully started under saddle and, I am happy to report, is now being ridden regularly by her new family.

"The Horse With Wings"

The Farthest Travelled Award!

Alita (winged one) is a gorgeous 2016 Thoroughbred x Anglo-Arabian mare that came to me as green broke.

After finishing several months with me working on reining and dabbling in jumping, she went all the way out to New Brunswick to be the learning partner of a 13 year old girl.

Congrats on your new athlete!
